Product Description
Guzzini is proud to showcase a cutlery tray manufactured with a new material made possible by Milliken & Company’s Millad® NX8000. During the design process, SAN and Millad NX8000 clarified polypropylene were evaluated as the material for the injection molded tray. After viewing the clarity that Millad NX8000 provided to polypropylene, the design was finalized to incorporate this new material. The primary drivers for the material selection were: cost and impact resistance for better durability while maintaining the exceptional clarity. The Guzzini tray is a perfect example of an everyday item with great attention to style, quality, and functionality. The product offers an excellent cost effective solution manufactured with environmentally responsible materials. Guzzini plans to launch additional products with this new material creating a full product line. Millad NX8000 is designed for use in polypropylene and offers a typical 50 percent reduction in haze compared with the current industry standard for cPP. It is driving expanded use of cost-effective polypropylene as a replacement for other clear materials. Millad NX8000 clarifier enables polypropylene to be substituted for materials that are more expensive, denser and more difficult to recycle. |

Why is the product innovative?
Clarified PP not only provides transparency approaching that of other “water white polymers”, but also is easy to process, requires less resin, offers excellent performance properties, and can be accommodated in existing recycling systems. Additionally, the material supports environmental goals in two ways: with its lower density, polypropylene requires less resin than other clear polymers, reducing the amount of non-renewable resources used in manufacture; and it is more easily recycled in the existing waste management infrastructure. Guzzini is an Italian company established in 1912 by Fratelli Guzzini based on hand crafted products.
